The Insurance Repair Process
How an Insurance Repair Works at Westex
- 01
Contact Westex
Call us or start by sending photos. If you already have a claim number, insurance company or adjuster information, have it available. If you have not filed yet, you can still contact Westex and we can explain what information will be useful as you get started.
- 02
Inspect & Document the Damage
We inspect the vehicle and document the visible repair needs. A complete repair assessment may require additional inspection or disassembly.
- 03
Coordinate With the Adjuster
When insurance is involved, Westex communicates repair information and documentation to the adjuster as the claim moves forward.
- 04
Disassemble & Document Additional Damage
Collision damage can extend behind exterior panels. If additional repair needs are discovered after disassembly, they are documented as part of the repair process.
- 05
Repair the Vehicle
Approved repair work moves through the appropriate body, structural and refinishing stages at Westex.
- 06
Final Review & Delivery
Once the repair is complete, the vehicle is checked and the completed work is reviewed with you before delivery.

Your Vehicle. Your Choice.
You Don't Have to Use the Shop on an Insurance List
Westex is an independent collision repair shop and works with all insurance companies.
In Texas, you have the right to choose the repair facility for your vehicle. Your insurance company may recommend a shop, but the decision is yours.
Hidden Damage & Supplements
Why the First Estimate Can Change
An initial estimate is based on the damage that can be identified at that stage of the repair. Once damaged panels and components are removed, additional collision damage may become visible.
When that happens, Westex documents the additional repair needs and, when insurance is involved, submits the information to the adjuster as a supplement.
A supplement does not necessarily mean something went wrong with the original estimate. It is a way to document repair needs discovered after more of the vehicle can be inspected.
Replacement Parts
Know What Is Being Proposed for Your Repair
Depending on the vehicle and repair, replacement components may include OEM, aftermarket or recycled parts.
Westex can explain which parts are being proposed for the repair and answer questions before they become part of the work.
In Texas, vehicle owners have the right to choose replacement parts. An insurance company is not required to pay more than a reasonable amount for repairs or parts, and policy terms and claim circumstances can affect what the insurer will pay.

FAQ
Insurance Repair Questions
- Do you work with my insurance company?
- Yes. Westex works with all insurance companies and communicates with the adjuster on repair-related information and documentation throughout the claim.
- Do I have to use the shop my insurance company recommends?
- No. In Texas, you can choose the repair facility for your vehicle. An insurance company may recommend a repair shop, but the choice remains yours.
- What if I haven't filed the claim yet?
- You can still contact Westex. We can explain what repair information will be useful as you get started. Coverage and claim decisions remain between you and your insurance company.
- What is a supplement?
- A supplement documents additional repair needs discovered after the original estimate or repair assessment. This can happen after damaged components are removed and previously hidden collision damage becomes visible.
- What about my deductible?
- Whether a deductible applies and the amount depend on the type of coverage and the claim. The deductible is established by the insurance policy, not by Westex. If you are unsure what applies to your claim, confirm it with your insurance company.
- What if the insurance company says my vehicle is a total loss?
- The insurance company makes the total-loss and valuation decision. If that happens, questions about the valuation or settlement should be addressed with the carrier. Westex does not determine whether your vehicle is a total loss.
- Can Westex help with a rental car or towing?
- Westex can help coordinate rental or towing arrangements when needed. Whether insurance pays for those services depends on the policy and claim.
