Classic Car & Truck Restoration in El Paso, TX

Every classic arrives with a different history, condition and goal. Westex takes on restoration projects ranging from targeted body and paint work to larger classic builds, with the scope defined around the vehicle and what you want it to become.

The Project Starts With the Car

No Two Restoration Projects Should Have the Same Scope

A largely complete classic with tired paint has different needs than a vehicle with rust, previous repairs, missing panels or years of unfinished work.

Westex starts by looking at the vehicle, understanding the owner's goals and identifying the body, metal and refinishing work involved. From there, the project scope can be built around the car rather than forcing every restoration into the same package.

The End Goal

Define the work before the project gets deeper.

The Restoration Process

Build the Scope Before Building the Car

  1. 01

    See the Vehicle

Westex evaluates the vehicle in person and discusses its condition, previous work and your goals.

  2. 02

    Define the Project

We identify the areas involved and establish an initial scope for the body, metal, paint and custom work Westex will perform.

  3. 03

    Disassemble & Reassess

As the project is opened up, previously hidden rust, old repairs or additional work may become visible. Those findings can change the scope.

  4. 04

    Body, Metal & Refinishing

The vehicle moves through the agreed restoration work, including body repair, metalwork, panel fit, preparation and refinishing as applicable.

  5. 05

    Reassemble & Review

Components removed for the restoration are reinstalled and the completed Westex work is reviewed before delivery.

Restoration scope can change once a vehicle comes apart. Westex discusses significant newly discovered work before adding it to the project.

Metal & Bodywork

The Finish Is Only as Good as What Is Underneath It

Old paint can hide previous filler, corrosion, poor repairs and panel problems that only become clear as a restoration is opened up.

Westex addresses the body before the final finish—repairing damaged areas, replacing deteriorated metal when required and working panel fit and body lines as part of the agreed project.

Rust & Old Repairs

Identify and address deteriorated metal and previous bodywork.

Panel Fit

Work adjoining panels toward consistent fit before final refinishing.

Surface Preparation

Prepare repaired areas for the level of finish defined for the project.

Restoration Paint

The Finish Is Part of the Build

Body restoration and paint should be planned together. Westex prepares and refinishes restoration projects in its dedicated paint booth, with the color and finish direction established around the vehicle and project.

Original-Style Color

Returning the exterior toward a period-appropriate or original color direction.

Custom Color

Choosing a different finish as part of a custom build.

Complete Refinishing

Preparing and painting the exterior as part of a larger restoration.

Custom & Resto-Mod Projects

A Classic Doesn't Have to Go Back Exactly the Way It Came

Some owners want originality. Others want a classic body with a more personalized stance, finish, trim or modern influence.

Westex can incorporate custom body and paint direction into the restoration scope and work with the owner to define the look of the finished vehicle.

If the project includes drivetrain, suspension, electrical, upholstery or other specialized work beyond Westex's direct scope, those requirements should be discussed during planning rather than assumed.

FAQ

Classic Restoration Questions

What types of classic restoration projects does Westex take on?
Westex evaluates classic cars and trucks for body, metal, paint, restoration and custom work. The exact scope depends on the vehicle's condition and what the owner wants to accomplish.
Do you do complete restorations?
Westex can discuss larger restoration projects as well as partial body and paint restorations. The scope is determined after seeing the vehicle and understanding the work involved.
Can you repair rust and previous bodywork?
Yes. Rust, deteriorated metal and previous body repairs can be evaluated as part of a restoration. The full extent may not be known until affected areas are opened up.
Can you finish a restoration another shop started?
Westex can evaluate unfinished projects. Whether taking over the project makes sense depends on its current condition, previous work and what remains to be done.
Do you do custom or resto-mod projects?
Yes. Custom body and paint direction can be incorporated into restoration projects. Other specialized mechanical or interior work should be discussed during the project-planning stage.
How long does a classic restoration take?
Restoration timelines vary significantly based on project scope, vehicle condition, hidden rust or previous repairs, parts availability and changes made during the project. Westex can discuss timing after evaluating the vehicle and defining the initial scope.
