Body Repair Capabilities
What Auto Body Repair Can Involve
Collision damage can affect one exterior panel or several connected parts of the body. The repair depends on the material, location and severity of the damage.
- Panel Repair — Straightening and reshaping damaged exterior panels when repair is appropriate.
- Panel Replacement — Removing and replacing panels that are too damaged for an appropriate repair.
- Doors, Fenders, Hoods & Quarter Panels — Repair and replacement across common exterior collision-damage areas.
- Panel Fit & Alignment — Adjusting repaired and replaced components so adjacent panels, doors, hood and trunk fit consistently.
- Disassembly & Reassembly — Removing trim, lamps, hardware and related components as needed to complete the body repair.
- Corrosion Protection — Restoring appropriate corrosion protection to repaired areas where required by the repair.
Repair or Replace?
Can the Damaged Panel Be Repaired—or Does It Need to Be Replaced?
Not every damaged panel needs to be replaced, and not every damaged panel should be repaired.
Westex evaluates the extent and location of the damage, the panel material, access to the damaged area and how the repair will affect fit and refinishing. Panels that can be appropriately repaired may be straightened and reshaped. When the damage is too extensive or replacement is the more appropriate repair, the damaged panel is removed and replaced.
The decision starts with the damage—not with a one-size-fits-all rule.
The Body Repair Process
From Damaged Panels to Proper Fit
- 01Disassemble & InspectWe remove the components needed to see the damaged area more completely and determine what can be repaired and what may need replacement.
- 02Repair or ReplaceRepairable panels are worked back into shape. Panels that require replacement are removed and prepared for the replacement component.
- 03Fit & AlignRepaired and replacement panels are positioned and adjusted so doors, hood, trunk and surrounding body panels fit consistently.
- 04Prepare the Repaired AreaThe completed bodywork is prepared for the next stage of the repair, including the surface preparation and protection required before refinishing.
- 05Reassemble & CheckTrim, lamps, hardware and other removed components are reinstalled and the repaired area is checked before final delivery.
Fit & Alignment
Body Repair Is About More Than Removing the Dent
A repaired panel still has to work with everything around it. Doors need to open and close properly. The hood and trunk need to sit correctly. Body lines and the spaces between adjoining panels should be consistent.
That is why panel fit and alignment are part of the body-repair process—not something checked only after the paint is finished.
- Body LinesRepaired panels should follow the shape and character lines of the surrounding body.
- Panel GapsAdjacent components are checked for consistent spacing and fit.
- Opening PanelsDoors, hood and trunk are checked for proper operation and alignment.
Insurance & Parts
When Body Repair Is Part of an Insurance Claim
If an insurance claim is involved, Westex documents the body damage and communicates with the adjuster as the repair progresses. If additional damage is discovered after disassembly, the new repair needs can be documented and submitted as part of the claim process.
Depending on the vehicle, repair, parts availability and insurance claim, the repair may involve OEM, aftermarket or recycled parts. Westex can explain what is being proposed for your vehicle before those parts become part of the repair.

FAQ
Auto Body Repair Questions
- Will you repair my damaged panel or replace it?
- It depends on the panel, material, location and extent of the damage. Westex evaluates whether an appropriate repair can be made or whether replacement is the better repair approach.
- What types of replacement parts can be used?
- Depending on the vehicle, repair, availability and insurance claim, parts may include OEM, aftermarket or recycled components. Westex can explain what is being proposed for your repair.
- What if you find more damage after taking the vehicle apart?
- Some collision damage is hidden behind exterior panels and components. When additional repair needs are discovered during disassembly, they are documented. If insurance is involved, that information can be submitted to the carrier as part of the claim process.
- What if the collision also damaged the vehicle's structure?
- Body-panel repair and structural correction are related but different parts of collision repair. If the underlying structure has moved or requires correction, Westex can address that through the frame-straightening portion of the repair.
- How long does auto body repair take?
- Timing depends on the extent of the damage, how many panels are involved, parts availability, refinishing and whether additional damage is discovered after disassembly. Westex can explain the expected timeline after inspecting the vehicle.
- Is Westex body repair covered by a warranty?
- Completed repairs are backed by Westex's lifetime written guarantee, subject to the terms of the written warranty.
